appartmens. wohneinheiten, meist für menschen gedacht, die allein in ihnen hausen. gemeinsam mit geräuschen. und klängen…

im ersten teil der sendung öffnet uns lisa aalders die tür zu einen appartment, in dem der staub der zeit lagert. und auf seine weise einfluss darauf nimmt, wie die künstlerin gitarre spielt.

im anschluss lädt uns anna friz noch einmal nach toronto ein, um mit ihr die elektromagnetischen felder in ihrer wohnung zu erkunden…

our first visit is guided by the kingston based artist and radio enthusiast lisa aalders – and er
experiments in guitar playing:

"Inspired by youthful angst, dead pets and long fingernails.
Forgotten guitars of adolescence and a dusty kalimba are her tools.
Recorded in her old bedroom (listen for those background sounds of domesticity).
The approach is intimate.
The sound is coaxed out, squeezed out. Ripped out.
It is ultimately the (clumsy) process of finding these sounds that is revealed

afterwards, we are invited for another time by anna friz to toronto for an acoustic research on the electromagnetic fields in her apartment:

"Our Domestic Radiation (2009): A composition made from the imagined and actual intercepted fields of electro-magnetic and acoustic signals in and around my apartment in Toronto, Canada. This piece seeks to express some of the wireless action surging daily on site. I am particularly interested in the relative flatness and depth perceivable in both acoustic and Hertzian space, and in the diminishing horizon in the city as a result of urban design and an exponential increase in wireless infrastructure (or electro-magnetic clutter). Additional filters include mason jars, theremin, ring modulator, staged interference, and delay. […]" [A.F.]
