zurück in der stadt. ihren klängen lauschend. stimmungen. des tages und der nacht.

zunächst in brüssel, wo studenten mitschnitte ihrer audio-installationen für das projekt "tuned city" zu einer radiophonen klangcollage zusammengestellt haben.
im anschluss sinken wir dann noch einmal mit didimitar dodovski in die (wach-)träume der nächtlichen stadt…

back to the city. listening to its tunes. over the day(s). in the night(s).

first in brussels, where RITS students have built a radiophonic collage upon their sound installations for the "tuned city" project:

"The re-entry of XL AIR is a show that consists of various excerpts from radio pieces the RITS radio students made in order to document their installations made for the Brussels version of Tuned City, a platform which proposes an examination of the relations between architecture and sound.

The project draws the traditions of critical discussion about urban space within the architecture and urban planning discourse–as well as its strategies and working methods–into the context of sound art. This expanded discussion reenforces the potential of the spatial and communicative properties of sound as a tool and means of urban practice.

At the foundations of this event are artists’ works and theoretical approaches which examine in a critical and sensitive way the given urban and architectural situations alongside their resulting socio-political implications, that re-use existing spaces or that conceive and open new spaces.

A dialogue will be built at the intersection of both disciplines which traces out the complex relations and interactions of space-sound, both presenting and testing new strategies, methods, possibilities and potentials of sound work within the artistic and applied context." [D./XLA]

afterwards, we'll sink for another time with dimitar dodovski into the (wake-)dreams of the nocturnal city:

"this piece of radia composition is made of lofi noises, crackles and subtle dubscapes which from the artist's view depict the nocturnal state of the city. inside the house where hums and noises from electronic appliances are generated and outside where distant sounds occupy space, reverbed voices from insomniacs, lovers and lonesome whistlers fill in the silence."
