ART IS BEAUTIFUL! ist ein Flugblatt im DIN A 4-Format, das anlässlich eines Workshops des Old Boys Network (OBN) als Teil des Programms "suck my code. Performing cyberfeminism" ausgegeben wurde, den ich im Rahmen der 8. Internationalen Performance Konferenz "networking / meeting", Frankfurt am Main, 13.05.- 16.05.1999 kuratiert habe.
Natürlich mag man mit Blick auf den Titel auch an Karl Valentins viel zitierten Satz "Kunst ist schön. Macht aber Arbeit" denken. Tatsächlich aber ist er eine Hommage an Marina Abramovic' performance "Art must be beautiful… Artists must be beautiful".
Während das Flugblatt die Form eines Fragebogens aufnimmt, erweist sich bei genauerem Hinsehen, dass es nach Beantwortung der Fragen nirgendwo eingereicht werden soll – sondern vielmehr entweder behalten oder an andere weitergegeben werden kann.
Es darf also auch gern kopiert und vervielfältigt werden.

ART IS BEAUTIFUL! was a leaflet released in occasion of the Old Boys Networking Workshop, part of the programme "suck my code. Performing cyberfeminism" curated in course of the 8th International Performance Conference "networking / meeting", Frankfurt am Main, 13.05.- 16.05.1999.
The conference took place in the former "Kasino" of the I.G. Farben-Haus ("Poelzig-Bau"), at that time no longer habited by the U.S. Forces and undergoing renovation before the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University started to move in.
Rather than to Karl Valentin's famous sentence, the title may be dedicated to Marina Abramovic' performance "Art must be beautiful… Artists must be beautiful".
While formatted like a questionnaire, the leaflet obviously asked not for being returned. So it maybe kept and/or spread otherwise.
