Together with the recent DIY and craftivism movement, "Guerilla Knitting" and "Yarn Bombing" have become popular tags for a whole range of individual and/or collective activities using textile crafts as tool for cultural and political interventions in public space.

The Open Knitting Workshop "Knitting the City", organized as part of (and pre-opening) activity of the exhibition "Do It Yourself – Die Mitmach-Revolution" (Museum für Kommunikation Frankfurt, 25.08.2011-19.02.2012) as well as in cooperation with Playing the City (Schirn Kunsthalle Frannkfurt) invites to learn more about these tools – not only in theory, but also in practice.

The workshop is led by led by Steffi Müller and Klaus Dietl, both artists and members of the Munich based initiative Kommando Agnes Richter.

For those who want to join, there will be also a Knitting the City Flashmob.
