Media on Mars (MoM) möchte nicht nur den historischen Errungenschaften der Medien auf dem Gebiet der interplanetaren Kommunikation Tribut zollen, sondern auch Zugang zu entsprechenden Daten bieten, die entweder vom Mainstream der Wissenschaftsgeschichte bislang weitgehend ignoriert worden sind oder aufgrund der terrestrischen Einschränkungen nicht publiziert werden konnten bzw. können. Zugleich hat sich MoM zum Ziel gesetzt, das von frühen Medien begonnene Werk fortzusetzen.
Das Projekt versteht sich als Hommage an Élise-Catherine Müller (1861-1929), einer Pionierin der marsianischen Kommunikation.

Media on Mars (MoM) not only wants to pay tribute to the historical achievements of media in the field of interplanetary communication, but also to provide access to related data that either have been largely ignored by mainstream history of science and/or lack possibilities of publication due to terrestrial limitations. At the same time MoM strives build on, to continue and push forward the work begun in media history.
The project is dedicated to Élise-Catherine Müller (1861-1929), a pioneer of Martian communication.

background information

The concept for MoM has been developed and handed in as proposal for a contribution to the MARS PATENT site (www.mars-patent.org) in late summer 2005 and was soon confirmed by the curators, Claudia Reiche and Helene von Oldenburg.

We hope to start the project as soon as possible.
