KIOSK:RADIO:KIOSK – documenta memory: was bleibt?
[pls. scroll down for english version]

[English]

Meanwhile documenta 14 has ended. As always, a lot has been said and a lot has been written. There is still some rumble – but that will soon sober down. And the next edition will be prepared. So the circle goes on and on. However, that's why we want to hold on for a moment to ask: what will remain?

And we want to ask this question not only with document 14 in mind. After all, there have been thirteen documenta exhibitions before that. Some of which are quoted rather often: like, for obvious reasons, the very first documenta in 1955, or documenta 5 in 1972, the edition curated by Harald Szeemann. However, there are also others rarely mentioned. And the same can be said for the participating artists and their works shown in Kassel.

Of course there are plenty of options to refresh our documenta memory: on documenta's website or on the website of the documenta archive, not to mention the archive in Kassel itself with all the documents and its library – a living memory of documenta history. There are also the catalogues, and there are mountains of publications and scholarly research.

But then our GUNSTradioKIOSK is eager to offer a different access. Neither we want to look back at the whole documenta history, nor at all those documenta exhibitions we've visited in the past decade. Rather, we want to continue our approach already chosen for the previous part of our tiny documenta series, our GUNSTradio show celebrating the 20th jubilee of radio x and GUNSTradio, and focus on the last two documenta decades, 199-2017, dX-d14. What remains?
