(IN)VISIBLE CITY (B09)

International Summer Academy Workshop

Walking and watching, cruising and seeing, navigating and charting, collecting and sorting, visualizing and communicating: The workshop aims to investigate — in theory as well as in practice — techniques, strategies and modes of exploring the (in)visible city. Tracing, tracking, and leaving marks will be a core activity.

Starting point and basic working format are city walks, hereby consciously drawing back to a cultural practice used by many artists and artist's collectives from early modernity onwards.

For preparing and participating in the workshop, you are invited to choose one of the following three focus themes for individual and/or group work:
1) URBAN PLAYGROUND(S) — SPIELPLATZ STADT
2) URBAN GREEN — BIOTOP STADT
3) GHOST CITY — GEISTERSTADT
The three focus themes are mutually connected and will be brought together again in our collective city walks, on-site meetings and workshop sessions.

(IN)VISIBLE CITY (B09) is a workshop invited by interflugs/Berlin Art Academy and takes place as part of the interflugs summer academy 2009.
Students from Frankfurt are invited to participate. Please note: as the summer academy is an international event, main course language is Englisch (however, communication can be coducted in other languages like German, French, Italian as well). No fee, accomodation etc is being organised.

(IN)VSIBLE CITY is an ongoing project. Find more info and documentation filed under the related project focus,  "(IN)VISIBLE CITY",  at www.under-construction.cc
