Coffee Filter Clocks

Concepts and Considerations

An everyday device and easy installment for a very simple TBC mechanism.

All you need is paper filters, coffee, a mug, water (a heater in case you are planning to enjoy also the coffee). For better convenience you might also prefer to place the paper filter in a funnel – however, this is not necessary.

Simply place the coffee in the filter, and the filter in another filter in the mug (so you need – at least – two filters, and you might also try it with three or four filters). Add water. Then carefully grab the filters to hold them upon the mug. Watch time pass.

Sometimes the filter(s) will tear, and the water-coffee mixture will immediately drop into the mug. However this is not necessarily to be considered as a failure of the mechanism – in the end, it's just the coffee filter time passing by in a rush.

Note: For obvious reasons, a proper use of Coffee Filter Clocks excludes the parallel use of wrist watches or other conventional time pieces.
