radia #388: nature meets technology + radia #200: IT iyr_byt

[pls. scroll down for english version]

nature meets technology – twice and in two considerable different ways. of course there are many options for this constellation…

the first one for today:

"12 artists put themself, together with a ton of equipement, into a van and get on the trip on the mountain village Lazaropole at 1300 masl. They occupied a old village house, set the equipement and started workling on various fields of art, focusing on the sound. The sound of nature. they went there because they were isolated from the rush and noise from the city and the chaos of the urban life. Because they love soundscape and field recordings. They love to make music and perform together. Because in Lazaropole they were immersed in an inexhaustible source of sounds. Because the village is surrounded with breathtaking places. Because they love nature! What you’ll listen is the result of that stay." [T.D.]

in the second part of the show IT presents a piece woven from acoustic data in disguise – artifacts from/by nature:

"For our radio-work we made field-recordings which had an artificial sound. We brought them together with synthetic material, which in the contrary, sound natural. These very distinguished aspects in our source material were set as close as and as far as possible in correlation. Therefore movement, space, mimesis, presence, auditory threshold, and rhythm where important parameters." [J.K. & C.S.]

Johannes Krause and Claus Störmer are working together as IT, a project in the context of live electronic and electroacoustic music. Choosing Radio Corax as a platform to present their live improvised work, IT is about experimenting with sounds and the development of methods of playing, depending on the material. IT use live recordings to process them as well as mix them up with synthetic sounds, with the intention of creating a coherent sonic field, fusing abstract and representational aspects of these sounds. The state varies in time through which the association on a specific sound is not fixed. The attempt is to figure out an open acoustic situation without a definite link to music. [R.W.]
