cars. uh. what are they good for? absolutely nothing. at least if you count uses against abuses and damage, and divide the result through the anthropocentric egoism factor. but then – wait a minute: what about radio art?

ok, let's give it a try. first with cedric stevens and vidar martens:

"What you hear is a field recording taken from the inside of a Toyota Yaris, driving through the city centre of Oslo in 2010. The radio is being changed between the different AM frequencies 153, 225 and 1611 at a high volume. Since AM frequencies is poorly supported in Norway, the Yaris pick up mainly electromagnetic signals from the surroundings like the tram, hospital or its own engine, instead of ordinary radio transmission from radio broadcasts.
The Toyota Yaris works like a vehicle for translating nonperseptive surroundings to sound, as well as transporting passangers. This creates an exploratory AM soundscape of central Oslo." [C.S./V.M.]

afterwards, cars are entering the stage to become instruments get another chance:

"Last 21st October 2011, radio meet cars meet musicians in the garage bellow Maus Habitos, Future Places Festival HQ in Porto, Portugal. Two radio stations, Radio Futura 102.1 MHz and Radio Manobras 91.5MHz provided their frequencies to carry music and chaos into six audio tuned automobiles from the Portuguese xtremetuning.org community. Peter Principle composed a loose composition, grouping cars, musicians on frequency, garage sounds and more musicias. The complex setup worked into two floors of music, performance and radio, where out of sight musicians where channelled into these powerful, personalized, sound system on wheels.
A Performance for 2 radio stations, six cars, one composer, and an innumerable number of musicians." [R.R.]
