Tower of the Winds

Definition and Reference

The "Tower of the Winds", also known as
"[Aerides]" or "[Horologion]" (see ibid.), is a building situated in the Roman agora in Athens, Greece that combines several "[Elementaruhren]" (roughly translated: elementary clocks – clocks based on the [Elements], see ibid.).
For more details see the main entry on [Aerides].

However, apart from the famous Aerides, there are of course also other towers that can be qualified as towers of the winds.
The figure below shows an observation tower in the Mosel region. For the steel construction is exposed to the winds, and whenever the wind is strong enough the tower starts to sing – intentional or not, as a matter of fact the whole building becomes a musical instrument.
Of course we may easily imagine it also as a proper location for installing a wind clock. But then why not think of the tower itself as a wind clock in its own rights.
